For many people, choosing organic is not only about their health but also the health of our planet.
Organic farming uses techniques that preserve our environment and keep the soil as healthy as it can be. It does not use synthetic fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides and chemicals or any other substances that are or maybe, harmful to soil, water, wildlife, human life or the environment.
When synthetic pesticides, insecticides and other chemicals are sprayed onto our farms, it decreases the quality of our soil and increases salinity (salt levels). It also depletes the soil of vital minerals necessary for the healthy functioning of our bodies.
Chemicals not only affect the soil they are sprayed onto. Rain washes these chemicals into our waterways and the water that we drink. Through the food we eat and skin care products we use, these chemicals are taken into our bodies. Here they can damage our immune system and cause allergies, infections and even cancers.
The skin is a living, breathing organ and needs to be cared for. Everything is absorbed through your skin therefore it should be gentle and non-toxic.
What is in our products?
Our carefully selected ingredients are all derived from natural sources. We have chosen our ingredients because they are gentle and have beneficial properties, and we use as many organic ingredients as we can get our hands on.
GAIA lists all ingredients used and only the certified organic ingredients are listed as organic - this validates the organic ingredients to ensure they are following stringent guidelines for their certification. There may be a higher proportion of organic component in our formulations than we actually list on the label.
Sourced from reputable suppliers and appropriately certified farms, all of our certified organic ingredients are verified, mostly by the ACO (Australian Certified Organic) as well as the Soil Association (Organic Certificate).
To verify the validity of the certified organic ingredients, we ensure we have certified organic certificates for all ingredients that are used in our products.
We have strong feelings about how we market our products. We pride ourselves on not using misleading or confusing information in our marketing. We DON'T include a certification logo on our products for two reasons - firstly, we are a not a fully certified organic product and we believe you shouldn't be allowed to display the logo unless you are - it leads to confusion about who is and isn't certified organic. It would also add to the cost of the product as the certifying body requires a percentage of company turnover, which makes it more expensive for you and we would prefer to keep our range of products affordable.
