GAIA NATURAL BABY GROWS UP
From its humble beginnings in the country kitchen of a local Aussie mum, GAIA Natural Baby, now Australia’s most widely distributed natural and organic baby skincare brand, begins the new year by opening its international headquarters and national distribution centre in the heart of Hallam’s thriving business district.
The multi-award winning company behind the brand, GAIA Skin Naturals, was the brainchild of Michelle Vogrinec, who, after trying to find natural skincare to soothe and nourish her first-born’s severe eczema, turned necessity into the ‘mother of invention’ by producing her own herbal concoctions on her stove-top. Five short years later, GAIA Natural Baby skin and hair care products are available nationally through Coles supermarkets, Priceline, baby stores, chemists and health food shops, and is achieving export success in over 13 countries across Europe, Asia and the US.
Former ‘Australian Micro Business Woman of the Year’, Michelle, explains her meteoric rise to success as simply ‘meeting the needs of people she cares about, and trying to live a natural, organic-based lifestyle’.
“Just like me, parents are looking for a readily-available and affordable natural alternative that will not only gently care for their baby’s delicate skin, but is also kind to the environment. These days, bath water needs to be recyclable and people are demanding products suitable for use in grey-water systems. All GAIA products are free from soaps, sulphates and phosphates – just containing natural and organic ingredients known for their skin-nurturing properties.” said Michelle.
Teamed with her husband Simon (an ex-international cosmetic company’s sales manager and professional hairdresser/salon owner), they currently employ a dozen head office staff and manage a network of distributors both nationally and overseas. But as the business rapidly expands, they will be looking to fill additional positions in the office and warehouse in the coming months.
Their latest joint endeavor, “GAIA Made For Men” has begun to make a similar impact on the local and international marketplace, and the newly formed product development team, are looking forward to releasing a women’s range and a selection of pregnancy care products later this year.
“This move is very exciting next step for the business, as we continue to develop the GAIA brands. We hope to remain located in Hallam for many years to come.” said Michelle.
